Description

Bradford Anticon Insulation – Light Duty Foil

Bradford Anticon merges two powerful insulation types into one product to deliver exceptional performance. The reflective foil layer blocks up to 97% of radiant heat from entering the roof space and helps manage condensation, while the insulation blanket reduces external noise and significantly slows heat transfer in and out of your home.

Why install Anticon Roofing Blanket?

Residential and Commercial Applications

How Anticon works

The diagrams below illustrate how Anticon functions in two types of residential settings. The first diagram depicts a roofing blanket installed in a pitched metal roof with a flat ceiling. The second shows the blanket used in a pitched roof featuring a cathedral ceiling beneath the rafters.

Sound Insulation for Roofs

Enhance your roof’s acoustic performance with Anticon Insulation. Installing Anticon directly beneath a metal roof sheet helps reduce unwanted airborne noise from sources like traffic or aircraft, while also dampening impact sounds from rain or hail. While light rain can be calming, heavy rain or hail on a metal roof can be loud and disruptive. Anticon can lower the sound power level of heavy rain by more than 7%*, contributing to a quieter and more comfortable home. For even greater thermal and acoustic performance, consider pairing it with Bradford Gold ceiling batts or SoundScreen.

Improve Energy Efficiency and Comfort

Most standard building materials—like bricks, roof tiles, and metal roofing—tend to transmit much of the heat they absorb. That’s why adding insulation is essential. Installing Anticon beneath metal roof sheets, along with Gold Batts or New Generation SoundScreen in ceilings and walls, helps boost energy efficiency and creates a more comfortable indoor environment.

Up to 42% of heat is lost through the roof

During winter, approximately 42% of a home’s heat escapes through the roof, while about 24% is lost through the walls. In summer, heat enters the home at similar rates. Installing this roofing product can significantly enhance your home’s thermal efficiency and overall comfort.

Condensation Control

Installing this product helps minimize the risk of condensation forming beneath metal roofing, which can otherwise lead to ceiling damage and mould growth. In colder climates, using high levels of insulation only on the ceiling to meet energy efficiency standards can inadvertently increase the chance of condensation in the roof cavity. While ceiling insulation effectively retains warmth, it does not block moisture vapor from inside the home from passing through the plasterboard and insulation layers.

When this vapor reaches a cold surface—like an uninsulated metal roof—it can condense into water droplets, much like moisture on the outside of a cold drink bottle on a warm day. To combat this, Anticon (short for anti-condensation) is installed directly beneath the metal roof sheet to limit vapor contact with the cold surface. By insulating the metal, the Anticon foil layer stays warmer, reducing condensation risk. In colder areas or homes with high internal humidity, it’s essential to tape the foil overlaps and ensure proper ventilation is used to expel moisture-laden air from the roof space.

Fire Performance

This bulk insulation blanket is composed of non-combustible fibres and is specifically designed to seal ember entry points around ridges, valleys, and fascias—helping meet BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) requirements for metal-clad roofs in bushfire-prone zones. Anticon’s insulation blanket offers a high fire resistance rating in compliance with AS/NZS1530.3 (0,0,0,1), and its reflective foil facing meets the BCA flammability index standard of ≤ 5.

Made in Australia from up to 65% recycled glass
