Remove Old Insulation & Install a High-Performance Upgrade
Over time, insulation can degrade, trap moisture, harbour pests, or simply lose its effectiveness—and that costs you in comfort and energy.
Why Remove Old Insulation First?
Degradation
Over time, insulation materials like fiberglass, cellulose, or spray foam can degrade — they settle, get compressed, absorb moisture, or become a home for pests. When this happens, insulation loses much of its ability to regulate temperature.
Inspection
Removing old insulation allows for inspection of the building structure: you can spot moisture damage, rot, pest infestation, or structural issues that may have been hidden.
Contamination
Old or damaged insulation can harbor mold, mildew, dust, animal droppings, or even hazardous materials like asbestos. These pose risks to indoor air quality and your family’s health.
Our Removal Process
01
We inspect the existing insulation to assess its current condition thoroughly and accurately.
02
We use safe, professional equipment to remove contaminated or ineffective insulation.
03
Older insulation is disposed of in accordance with environmental & regulatory guidelines.
04
Any underlying issues (moisture, leaks, pest damage) are addressed before we move on.
Is Removal Always Necessary?
Not always. Some situations where removal may not be required:
- If the existing insulation is dry, undamaged, free of pests or mold, and still has good loft (i.e. has not compressed or settled badly).
- When adding new insulation on top is feasible and does not violate building codes or manufacturer’s warranties.
We can help you decide whether full removal is the right path for your home.
